Proverbs 31

Since I was fourteen, I have worked a job. I started out babysitting; I even took a class at the local library on how to be an indispensable sitter! I cleaned an office with my mom on the weekends while working at the local daycare in town after school. The only reason I have a light green thumb is because I worked at a nursery one summer watering all the plants. I've done so much filing, data entering, and gopher work that I could possibly be on the short list for the FBI. The list goes on. Yet, my favorite job in the world would have to be a mom and housewife.

Yep, I said housewife. I believe that word has become extinct in our society today. I commend mothers who work to help support their home, but I am most content to be home with my child, doing the mundane things like laundry and cleaning. I never thought I could have so much peace folding towels! Some may say that I don't have high aspirations for myself. I could be a career woman! Don't live in the 50s; this is the age of the Woman! Prove that you can do whatever a man can do! Who needs 'em? I know it seems that I've strayed away from the subject, but I believe this all ties in together. Like I said, I've worked different jobs. I did it for the money. Sure, I had pride in my work. It's called a work ethic. However, I was so happy to hang up my keys and do the job God made for me personally.

Whatever God has led you to do, whether it's staying home or working, I rejoice with you! For all the women out there my age who have been bombarded with the idea that women can do it all and better than the opposite sex, don't feed your mind with this lie. We can't do it all! We weren't created to do it all. That does not make us less important.

Read Proverbs 31:10-31. This passage is not just describing a woman of God; it is bragging about us! The writer (a man) uplifts us and in a way is astonished himself that this woman can do so much! So when you're feeling down and discouraged, remember that we are needed here on earth. We have a purpose whether it's as a housewife, or career woman.
